I need confirmation on my VFT dormancy...please...
Hi;
Here is my red VFT. I got it from a friend, a member of this forum. It's 1 (++) year old. My first problem is the red coloration was gone. I was told by him (her?)it's because my VFT don't get enough direct sunlight. So I give it more sunlight by replacing it to another corner of my house. After 2-3 weeks, I found the traps grow smaller. One of the leaf turn black even it is a new leaf. Since this is the sole red VFT that I have.... I'm really.. really worry about it. Is my VFT go fot it's dormancy? Thanks..... |

Re: I need confirmation on my VFT dormancy...please...
Additional info on my VFT:
I found one of the trap (See the 1st pic: the widest open trap) got something today. The trap was closed tightly this evening. It shows that the trap is still active. As what I was understood, the traps will become dumb or non-reactive when it's dormant.... Right? I'm a newbie and not ready to handle dormancy of my VFT... |

Re: I need confirmation on my VFT dormancy...please...
The plant doesn't look sick or dormant to me but kind of stress after transplanting/repotting. As long as the core is fine, the roots should be fine too. Give it more time to acclimatise, I think the newly produced leaves/traps should get bigger & bigger. The main thing now is to get the plant to recover, forget about the colour first. Leave the plant there alone, don't move it around any more. It will stress more every time you move it to a new spot.
