Hi Mavin, from what I have read there is still some conjecture about the method of attraction but most believe that there may be smell involved. What ever it is the very small organisms are attracted to the plant where they encounter the traps. Due to the shape of the traps the organisms are led up towards the digestive chamber by the inverted Y shape of the traps and the spiral arrangement on the outside surface. Once they reach the top of the Y they enter a small hole and from there the trap works in a very similar way to passive pitfall traps only reversed (i.e. the use of hairs to prevent escape and funnel prey towards the digestive zone).
