Hi Guys, i just got a SharkTeeth VFT recently, which i assume it is, no picture is available yet.
Just wondering, if i were to use a 11w/18w of PL light on it, distance between 6 or 7 inch between the plant, for mayb around 4 or 5 hours, is there enough? |

Erm...I think if you get a 11w or 18w....You need more than 4 to 5 hours...

Can't really help you with globe types but can help you out in another way. For VFT's to grow to there best you need very strong light. They will grow best out doors in direct light. If using lights indoors then I would suggest at least a 12 hour light period.
Those that are more familiar with these setups will be able to advise on globe types and wattages that are suitable. Cheers. |

Ooh.. I thought if i were using PL type of light, the light will be strong & i be able to cut down abit of the lightning period. Actually im still placing it outdoor, reason why i ask this is due to the sunlight it received at my outdoor places will be vary, as sunlight over there won't shine on the same spot for 8 hours a day. That's why if indoor can be an alternative for me, i can place it indoor too. |

I think to get a good result, you must at least putting the lights on for 12 hours a day. And the lights should be about 4 to 5" from the plant.
VFTs love plenty of sunlight to thrive and to show you the red colouration you want. You will get good result for about 8 months and suddenly they start declining, haha, that's time to go sleeping. |

Do not disturb the roots, do not want to pull the black leaf(cut it insted)because it might still be attached.Repotting medium....I use peat 50% ,30% silica sand and 20% perlite. And don't put the rhizome too deep or the water will reach it and it'll rot(mine always does this....HATE MYSELF)

You could use peat-perlite 1:1 or 2:1, or sphagnum moss-perlite 3:1 or 4:1, you may also substitute perlite with silica sand.
You plant looks fine but lack of sunlight, you don't have to repot now but provide more direct sunlight should do good. The water level shouldn't go higher than 1 cm if the pot is small, let the water to dry out before refill. Try water from the top to replenish new air in the media as water flow down, at the same time flush out minerals that may accumulate in the media. |
