my 6 cephs......help !
« Thread Started on Oct 16, 2007, 8:18pm »
Cindy, here are the 6 cephs...decided to post it here in case it can help others too...

Plant 1 ( the leaves which came with the plant has dried up but new ones are sprouting, in the background is a `huge` pitcher which came with the ceph, closed still but all green )

Plant 2 ( i see some signs of life too here )

Plant 3 ( the smallest ceph when it came, recovering too )

Plant 4 ( this was the biggest one when it came, bad shape )

Plant 5

Plant 6 ( the worst of the lot, it came with med sized leaves & pitchers, thot it had the best chance to survive )

Hi Tarence,

Plant 1 - looks fine, just remove the dead leaves

Plant 2 and 3 - same as Plant 1

Plant 4 - if the main and only shoot is soft then it is a goner

Plant 5 - Is that green leaf still firm?

Plant 6 - as long as that stem remains green, it will recover

I am surprised how bad a few of them look. There were growers that got their plants later and the plants look better. Perhaps it was because of the submersion in water.

Hi Tarence,
Plant 1, 2 and 3 look OK to me. Not sure about the rest. Hope they survive.

Cindy : plant 5, the green leaf IS still firm. Should I expose the plants to more bright lites now ? they are in semi shade in a huge tupperware with a glass sheet covering 80% of the opening during daytime, this is to keep humidity high. The nites are very cool and humid nowadays due to evening showers.
So if some part of the plant remains green, there is hope yah ?

TS : thx.....i hope they survive too.

Tarence, majority of mine are under T5 lights about the same brightness as I would grow my sundews. Don't worry about humidity too much. My balcony went down to 40% several times last week and they are fine. I tend to keep the plants in drier conditions so that the grow tips don't get too wet and start rotting.

You saw the pics I sent you? Even if the whole stem is brown, as long as it is firm it will survive. I will press it between my thumb and index finger to check. Even if the shoot dies down, the root portion may still be alive so don't throw it out too soon.

what`s left......Lau took 2 pots.....i killed 2...got 2 more surviving ( barely ! )

they`ve been thru water torture ( i soaked them in water for 2 hours when they first arrived as they look very dehydated - Cindy says I drowned them, uh oh) & also almost burnt by the sun when i was away in penang as the sun decided to change it`s angle then & shone on them....

Ceph 1 ( i named it Tinkerbelle )

a small shoot coming out from the root

Ceph 2 ( named Goliath coz it`s so tiny. It came back from the dead )

it turned black & i thot it had died on me....when i was about too throw it away, i saw a small branch coming out....phew, means got hope laa.

Tarence,

Both Tinklebell and Goliath are definitely coming back. Make sure you have them staying where they are now and not move them because they seem happy enough to send out new shoots.
