Default Red sphagnum!

After about a year or two, what was once a pot of bright green sphagnum has started to turn red! Most of it is orange/light pink, but there is a small patch there which is red! The strange thing is, there have been no change to its growing conditions over the past two years, so the change isn't in response to extra lighting, a temp drop, etc. I wonder what's making it turn red...

Maybe sphagnum matures as it grows, therefore turning red? I'm jealous!

Not sure about how many species are in there, I'm more interested in how/why its turning red. If that can be figured out, then perhaps we can all grow red sphagnum! It'll be way more awesome than growing the usual green stuff all the time. Perhaps its as Edward says, it turns red when it matures. If so, I must try and propagate this species of sphagnum out...
