Default New(est) shade house!

Well, it seems that as fast as I put up a new shade house it's full! So this time I decided to go a little bit bigger. I found the structure at one of those roadside 'plastic' shops and as they were going out of business I talked them into selling me one. I think I'm going back for another! The structure itself was 5,000 TB (about $150 US), sandpaper, labor and painting probably another $75, shade cloth - $45, gravel - $90 and my time - priceless! Not bad...if it isn't full in a week! Take THAT you nasty grasshoppers!

Happy growing!

Argh, you are sooo lucky! Shawn, how many CPs do you exactly have??

Nice setup, looks like that is gonna be a nice growing area, what CPs are you gonna put in there, by the way? Oh, yeah, as harlem said, keep us updated on that shade house, maybe I can learn from you how to make a MINITURE shade house, my house too small, hahahaha

Cheers, regards to the poor grasshopper.........

Thanks guys, I'm just wondering how long it'll be until it's full! Edward - I have absolutely no idea! They are everywhere around here. I've gone a bit nuts with seed germination so I'm just trying to stay one step ahead of the seedlings! This will probably be a 'shared' shade house as I have lots of Platyceriums, Hoyas, Neps, Drosera and ferns that are all looking for grasshopper-free growing areas right now.

There's an older post called "Mini-shade house test" showing one of the first ones I put up as a test...really small, really cheap, really good! My workers and I built it in a weekend.

I'll post again before heading to Penang towards the end of November...I'll bet it's close to full by then!

Shawn! You're just too much... Another shadehouse and this is quite huge huh. Are you sure it will only fill up before you go to Penang? I think it will be earlier than that.

I think you can put in there a couple of hundred Neps and a couple hundred more of other plants.

edwardyeeks,
Platyceriums and Hoyas are non-CPs. Platyceriums are staghorn ferns and Hoyas are leavfy plants that vines. Hoyas have beautiful flowers. Check out the Non-CP section. You'll find some pictures of these plants there.
