The patchy patterns don't compliment the appearance of the pitchers, which are the main feature of the plant. I do agree it`s not the prettiest of nep mutants. Lau did not manage to get a pic of the plant profile, perhaps it`ll give a better view of how the leaves compliment the pitcher. I saw similar stuff with alata too, without the pitchers it looks like a dracaena . I'll probably have to see one on the spot to appreciate it fully. Mix feelings: they may look 'special' but thats not a true form of nepenthes anymore... You see those are called marbling effect, where yellow and green co-exist in 1 single leaaf creating a desired pattern. As for variegation, it would appear as linear lines of yellow running along the leaves margin. What I find is that that truncata (its parent) could be intentionly stimulated by means of chemical or harmful rays (beta / gamma)to produce desired leaf patterns and thus mass produced for the market. Thais are extremely good in this. They will make variegation or marbling out of almost any plants deem suitable.......even a coconut tree! So, is the plant came from Thailand??? He`s not sure how they did it though.
