Default My Trip To Malesiana Tropicals

Hi Guys,
On my recent holiday to Kuching, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Malesiana Tropicals. The nursery was very well secluded and it was a surprise that such a nursery existed in that area. I was fortunate enough to be brought to and about the nursery by the friendly staffs. Here are some pictures from the trip and I hope you like them.

First of all I would like to show you the lowland area which consisted of three sections although I only have pictures of two of them.

A stunning N. sumatrana pitcher

A group of N. bicalcarata

A family of N. ampullarias

The giant N. truncuta

A big pitcher of N. rafflesiana

Malesiana’s very own hybrid N.x Menarik

Now for the highland room (You may notice the two air-conds which are on twenty four seven and the giant mist maker) At 26 degree Celsius in the day and 16 degree Celsius at night, it was a chilling experience

The N. klossi twins

Assorted highlanders

N. mira

The endangered N. clipeata

N. veitchii

N. boschiana

Thanks for looking. I hope you can get a rough overview of the area but I would really recommend you to pop by the area if you ever have the opportunity to travel to Kuching.

Great pictures Jonathan. Thanks for sharing. I've never visited their nursery before. The clipeata is a beauty especially its red stems. Did you buy anything from them?

I was also quite disappointed at first when I saw the outside of the nursery but after looking around, it was quite impressive.

Actually I bought quite a number of CPs from Malesiana. Spent about RM 350 there. Altogether spent about 1.5 k on plants in Kuching. There goes my allowance for this year.

According to Malesiana’s website, the parent plant of N.x Menarik is N. rafflesiana and N. veitchii which is the same as N.x Dicksoniana but for some reason they called it N.x Menarik. N.x Menarik a.k.a N.x Dicksoniana may look like N. x dyeriana due to N.x Menarik making up one of the parent plant for N. x dyeriana.
