No Prob's. I wouldn't give up on tuberous so quickly. They may be more difficult to grow in tropical areas but if you can provide a slightly cooler period to induce growth and then a hot dry period you may be able to succeed.
If I, along with many others, are able to grow tropical Nepenthes in a temperate zone such as Melbourne then it just may be possible to provide temperate conditions in a tropical area. It wont be as simple as placing them in water and leaving them but generally something that is worthwhile is not always easy.
