N. x ventrata Cultivation Guide
Hybrid Name: Nepenthes x ventrata
Parents: N. ventricosa x N. Alata (allegedly) Highland/Lowland: Highland x Lowland Man Made / Natural Hybrid: Natural hybrid Country of Origin: Philippines (man made hybrids were first made in Japan) Natural Habitat: Lowlands to Intermediate Cultivation Guide Lighting: wide range, 50% to Full sun Potting Medium: Airy medium, cocochips, perlite. Temperature: 20C to 38C Humidity: 50% to 90% Watering: Daily watering Propagation: Stem cuttings Remarks: N. x ventrata is recently subject to several debates with regards to if it is really a natural hybrid and if the commercially available ones have only the ventricos x alata parentage, or maybe there are back crosses or even a 3rd species involved. Most probably that the real natural hybrid will only have the two parents, while the man made hybrid that came out of Japan might have a back cross or a 3rd species. The hybrid can take cooler climates like the ventricosa, yet tolerate warmer conditions like the Alata. It grows quite well and fast. Seems to tolerate a bit drier or well drained medium. Pitchers well.
