The grassy leaves are considered the leaves. Utric's are different to other plants in that they don't have true leaves or roots. It is pretty much just modified stems. The size of traps varies from species to species but generally the terrestrial species trap small soil born organisms such as nematodes and gnats. The aquatics trap small organisms as well such as daphnia. The larger ones can occasionally trap mosquito larvae but it takes them several attempts to consume it as they can't fit entirely in the trap. |
