Default Question about Nepenthes...

Hey guys! What's up? I'd like to know, how to differ N. alata to N. x ventrata. That's a doubt that I came up with today.

Thanks,

Hase

Hello.

hm...I think the peristome is so different.

N.alata has perfect round peristome,,,,
but n.xventrata isn't round . ( angulate peristome)
Right ??
n. x ventrata http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...ventrata01.jpg
n.alata http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...uy/nova025.jpg

BTW,,,Speaking just for myself....I can't distinguish between n.truncata LL forms and pasian HL forms (BE)

oh gosh...you has the perfect pictures for differential comparison! was about to comment but after looking at these pics...it save some typing muscles...hahahaha

although i only has the n. alata 'surigao' variant....their peristome has to be the best value to differentiate them.....the n. x ventrata i has was labelled n. alata when first purchased but later re ID again by nepnut.

n. x ventrata has the starry appearance while n. alata has a thin and smooth peristome like n. gracilis has.

ventrata's peristome shows a clear influence from ventricosa, while the pitcher looks like
alata.
