Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
How is everyone`s cephalotus doing ? I shall be repotting mine this weekend coz the original LFS media looks quite pathetic & has remained WET from the day i got it.
Plan Gently lift off the CP from the media. Replant to slightly bigger pot. Medium will be using course sand, perlite & mebbe 10 % peat moss. Reality see how first. might chicken out. heheh. scared die. |

Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
Mine is still in the s. moss. Still looks good. I just place it in my terrarium and did not touch it since. Only pouring water into the media. Actually not much changes or new growth. Not sure if I want to repot. Hmm, maybe I wait for you to repot first... let your plant be the "guinea pig" for us ok... haa, haaa, haa...

Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
I repotted all my Cephs last week because they are still affected by the root mealies. The plants were removed, sprayed with contact insecticide, rinsed, soaked in systemic pesticide and potted up. Other than the loss of 1-2 leaves or pitchers, they have begin to put up growth within a week. The catch is, all my plants already have rhizomes at least an inch long. And the thickness is about 1/2 to 1 cm. They are cuttings which are 1-2 years old.
YG's Cephs are likely to be from TC. I am not sure if they will have a good strong rhizome. From what I have seen with the TC plants I had earlier, the base is a lot of thin roots instead. So repotting is a real risk. What I would suggest is to remove the top layer of sphagnum moss and replace it with peat/sand. That would keep the crown drier without upsetting the roots as well as cutting back on any infection as the moss is the cheap one from China which may have all sorts of mould. |

Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
A timely piece of advice Cindy coz i haven`t repotted them yet. thx. i`ll probably do that but i`m guessing that the whole pot is full of the low quality LFS so the bottom section might attract all sorts of unwanted pests as well....
i see how first. |

Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
howz our YG cephs doing ?
alas, i haven`t touched my ceph`s medium yet....but the growth seems to be pretty good so far. it gets morning sun from 8 a.m. for about an hour. Wish i had bought more from YG then but I was so broke. *Dream-mode* : should have bought at least 6 pots from YG for my own pleasureable CP gardening. |

Re: Cephalotus from YG (MAHA)
Mine still good. Some new leaves and traps but growth is very slow. No pitchers turn brown yet. Still in sphagnum moss and in my 1-feet terrarium.
