i have no idea how long i'd be out of action. i probably can only grow droseras again when i've got a place of my own, but even then it'd still depend on my working schedule. i go outstation at least once every month currently, so.. it all depends.

It would be a loss to the CP world if you gave up growing them. Have you thought about an automatic watering system, which would significantly reduce the amount of time you would have to attend to your plants?

Hongrui,

If you grow your Sundews and Pings in a terrarium, there is very little maintenance work to be doen to upkeep them and even water them. I water my sundews only once or twice a week.

But perhaps like you said, you have some personal reasons

Give the guy a break Tarence. As it is I am sure it is difficult for him to give up his passion for CPs and to cope with the stress and presures of his new job profile.

It is alright to talk and discuss about your your life. Afterall this forum is much more than a place to share about the cultivation of CPs.

Hongrui, we shall plead and beg until you return.

Peeps, Hongrui is still going to grow CPs...he is just taking a break due to his work committments. He is still growing plants which can be grown outdoors and watered by the rain i.e. Neps and Cephs.

He is not leaving totally but just not coming in as frequent as before. That is what we will miss. We are not losing one of the very experienced grower.

hahaha @ tarence! i'll go spin a nice sob sob story on my way up to kl next week and perhaps i'll tell it to you over coffee then *wink wink*

yep, like cindy said, i'm still keeping all my neps and cephs. while my neps are alll pitcherless and they look like weeds now, i have hope that they will pitcher again in the future.

actually my 'personal' reason is mainly because of mosquito breeding. the environment ppl seems to have my address on a blacklist somewhere because of all the water trays that i used to have. they can drop by twice a week to check on my address, probably they just wanna fine me. because of that my mother is hesitant about keeping the trays topped up and a direct result is that my droseras and vfts would suffer. now that i'm unable to care for my plants because of my work schedule, i felt that it wouldn't be fair to trouble my mum to keep the water trays full and still constantly check for larvae. i know how much of a hassle that can be.. with the number of trays that i have. so in the end, i decided to let go of them all.

on the bright side, i now have 2 empty racks to fill up and i think begonias and episcias should do pretty well... altho i still have to install a watering system somehow!

Hi hongrui,

Glad to hear you're still keeping a number of them with you.Weird huh a nepenthes without a pitcher it will look more like a creeper than a carnivorous plant i imagine..You said ALL your neps are pitcherless!!???? That must be a sad sight not saying u're not taking care of it.Don't worry your neps and other cps will understand haha
