Is this growth?

Hey orchid sifus would like to ask if this are the new roots of the orchid. Most probably is right? And also will an orchid be root bound like nepenthes? Or it doesn't bother bout its pot?
Grows suprising fast though. A week ago none of this was there..Now red tentacles are appearing evrywhere


The flower of this plant died like in a week after i got it but would like to ask if this is another flower coming up. If so is there things asides from the obvious which i shouldn't do which would effect the flower stalk/bud?
BTW the node i'm talking about is the one of focus.


Oh yea i use a fish emulsion fert for it with NPK values 9:2:6. Would it just ame it grow leaves or will help induce flowering too

Hi Ken, those are the new roots, the plant seems to like your place. Just leave the roots as they were, they'll find their way to grow around the pot.

Can't see it clearly. BTW if the bud is green then it should be a flower stalk, if it appeared red with light green tip, then it is a new root instead. Again, just leave it and do the normal watering, insecticide spraying and fertilising.

NPK 9:2:6 mainly induce leaf growth, for flowering purpose choose a fert with higher K value.
Is this the first orchid you have? Be careful, you'll got poisoned soon enough

I assume this is the orange-coloured Mokara you posted earlier. Yes, those tentacle-like things are new roots. The red thing in focus in the 2nd pic looks like a flower spike to me (notice the bract). Or is that the old spike? Mokara spikes can sometimes look reddish. If you were referring to the dried up things poking out of the nodes below, those were previous spikes. New spikes will only come out from nodes above the previous one as the plant grows taller.

Hi TS, Hope they'll continue to grow, Anyway should i continue with this fert while i find for a fert which induces flowering? Whats you advice on orchid fertilizing and anywhere u can recommend to get the fertilizer?

Paphio...Yea its the same orchid..(one and only) The node i was talking about is above the 2 older spikes which is off focus so its blurrish

Hi Ken, you could find orchid fertilizer at the gardening section in the supermarket, those that you need to mix with water.
I used to fertilise in a week interval, used the foliage type for the first week and the flowering type in the following week. Never fertilise under hot sun or the plant will get burn, best time is in the morning. And, don't fertilise the flower if there is any.
You may also use those "goat manure" fertiliser, just place two or three pieces near the root. Never buy "chicken manure" type which is too "salty" for orchids.
