Re: Dormancy and cultivation questions
When you water, the perlite will flow to the top and all the peat will move into the bottom. In long term, the bottom will be too compact and wet. So the risk of rotting will increase. Our humidity in Malaysia is higher then alot of other country outside asia. So the rot will set in more faster. There are already a few case. One of my friend in Singapore have a Hummer giant that grow for alot of years. Then suddenly it just collaped. So we dig into the giant pot of ceph and found out it is the perlite problem. The best to use will be lapis sand found in fish shop. It does not go to the top, it does not break down. When we dig up my giant pot of hummer giant, the midia is still loose after so many years.

The media from YG is too wet, so it rot. You have to change the media.

Re: Dormancy and cultivation questions
for pitcher plants like Cephalotus,Sarracenia,Nepenthes,Darlingtonia,Helia mphora etc etc, they have pitchers.their pitchers are used as a trap.
thats a pitcher.the pitcher can also be called trap bcoz it can trap small vertebrates like insects.

Re: Dormancy and cultivation questions
ooohhh..
i thought the word 'pitcher' is just for softball player.. for a type of plant, is also called pitcher.. so both of them are not the same, but i still can call a pitcher, as a 'trap', but i can't call a trap, as a pitcher, right? |
