Bugs on Rafflesiana
Recently, there is a kind of bug attacking pitchers of my rafflesiana. They are small sap sucking... probably insects, found only on raff pitchers. They suck until their abdomen filled with black fluid. Even a gentle touch, their abdomen explode with fluid splashing. I can see them still crawing around.
Anyone seeing this before and how to get rid of them?

Re: Bugs on Rafflesiana
Nice to hear that it is not fatal. After taking a closer look, the swollen part is not the insect's abdomen, but droplet of juice actually. Like aphid but much smaller.
Cut away a few heavily infested and discoloured pitchers today. Hope the pests disappear soon.

Re: Bugs on Rafflesiana
from what i heard and what u said,i think its the "Thrips".they're not fatal but from what i heard,it sucks the juice from the pitcher(sarrs or neps) and the pitcher will loose their colour and turn almost pale whittish if the infection is TOO long.well i dont know hw to get rid of it but u can take weeps's suggestion.
sry if somebody thinks im bossying around but this is what i heard. this is where i know about this. http://www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/bu...con-t6170.html well..thanks! Harris
