It is noted that many of us staying in Malaysia tend not to give their VFTs dormancy. I'm not sure about that, but one thing that I can guarantee, VFTs given dormancy will live very long naturally. I do not think that lack of dormancy can be the cause of slow traps, smaller traps and various problems. I note that there seems to be a time when VFTs grow smaller traps sometime in the year (myf friend had a VFT since 2008). Eventually it grows big traps again after two months or so. Here's something I found out, water tray is not good for VFTs grown in pure LFS media, it causes root rot or smaller traps.

Harris opened this thread as a thread for people to share similar problems with the VFT. And yes, try not to use so much short form, I can understand but many people here may not. Thanks for bringing out this topic though, I'd like to hear what the experts have to say.

Probably when ur vft shows sign of going into dormancy, other wise don't need to bother as there is a chance of it dormant permanently, not worth taking the risk unless you have bunch of them to experiment with

but sometimes u can force it to dormancy if it already grows more than 12months.it wont die unless u put it immedietly into the fridge.u must gradual it to cold temps atleast for 1month b4 fridge dormancy.u can put it 2weeks in shade and another 2weeks in a cold chamber like Robert make or put it in your aircond room.if it shows signs of dormancy,u can gradual it for just around 2.5weeks for safe
