This is the photo. ![]() What is it?Is it new leaves? This is a little out of the topic. While I was checking my plants, I saw a bird in its nest. See if you can spot it. It made its nest in one of my palm trees. ![]() Isn't it cute. ![]() Link to Post - Back to Top ![]() Global Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() member is offline ![]() ![]() Joined: May 2007 Gender: Female ![]() Posts: 442 Location: Ara River, 11900 Penang ![]() « Reply #1 on Feb 9, 2008, 1:56pm » yup! those are leaves! The plant may be experiencing root rot that can have the same effect. The plant appears too young to be in such multiplication development. Is the plant producing prolific pitchers? Has the plant recently flowered or may appear to be flowering? Please check all vital signs. Is it too young? The pitchers are quite big and the plant is medium-sized. They are not shown in the photo. « Last Edit: Feb 9, 2008, 8:40pm by plantlover »Link to Post - Back to Top ![]() Advisor - Nepenthes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() member is offline ![]() Joined: Jan 2007 Gender: Male ![]() Posts: 584 Location: Sarawak,Malaysian Borneo ![]() « Reply #7 on Feb 9, 2008, 9:43pm » It was not clear which growing part you described. If it was the 4 green growths ( 1st image )near the base then it would be new off shoots. 2nd image don't show anything, other than green leaves. There are more leaves that are not shown in the picture. I'm telling phissionkorps the plant is bigger that what the picture shows. Its just out of the picture. The second picture is of a bird in its nest. You can't see it. I'll circle it for you. The nest is so low I can grab it if I want to. I am back if anyone remembers me haha. This college term is a lot free-er than the previous ones so I can finally get back into carnivorous plants! =D I just wanted to agree that those are offshoots, I had a few coming out of one of my neps and they became like their own plants really. Then the ****es will die. Whatever it is do not touch the eggs or nest. If they smell your scent on the nest they will also abandon the nest. I did that mistake before. ![]() Link to Post - Back to Top ![]() Advisor - Nepenthes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() member is offline ![]() Joined: Jan 2007 Gender: Male ![]() Posts: 584 Location: Sarawak,Malaysian Borneo ![]() « Reply #16 on Feb 12, 2008, 12:38pm » It's true David.
