All about seeds progress
Many thanks to Robert's effort to fertilize plenty of hybrid seeds, and distributed it in a fast and proper manner. Off-course he released it with reasonable and affordable price to all members.
He gave me opportunity to enjoyed growing Nepenthe's seeds. I hope to see more to come in future. Just a quick shot to share some of the seedling pictures, not a pro. photographer but just wanted to share about the growing progress. I am not sure how many of them will survive thru, but I really enjoyed it. I think there still long way to go. To all master, kindly share if there is better success method. FYI, I have tried both coco peat(good and low quality) and sphagnum moss (SM)(fine chop). I personally think that all giving same germination rate. I think the most important is freshness of seeds and the handling during transportation. Seedling with SM seedling with Cocopeat Sorry for accidentally deleted some of the pictures, I can't find any of them now. I am able to found the only few of them at above. Above pictures taken in Sept 2010. Have A Nice Day !!! Last edited by weeps; 21st January 2012 at 02:03 PM. |

Hi, Jimmy,
Yes, It should be kept in transparent box and cover, punch few holes, reason is to keep high RH. Put under shaded area. |

Re: All about seeds progress
Depend on species too. I experimented on my one of viking seedling, as early as 1st small pitcher. Transfered to small 3cm pot, washed to the side of pot by heavy rain, then moved back to center again. Now it's producing second pitcher. 3 of them opened cover under direct morning sun for few days, started turned yellow, moved back and green pitcher appear in the center. So recovery of viking seedling is good. But for the rest my seedboxes, I'll leave them covered up maybe for another 6month before doing anything crazy, or stupid.

Re: All about seeds progress
Good to see you got a good germination on most of my nep hybrids.
I expected the hybrids with veitchii will be tougher and slower, it's their nature (both HL and LL variety). If veitchiis were so easy, you'll see it everywhere, right?? Anyway, good job !!
