Hi Primavera:

Thanks for the link. Very informative. The use of perlite in Nepenthes compost, IMO is somehow controversial. One one hand, some growers can't live without, but as it was mentioned on the article, it may have hurt some seedlings if not properly washed.

compost can vary from pure sphagnum to pure pine bark. It also depends on how often one waters the plants and how pure the water is. Sydneysiders seem to rely on tap water without problems.

A landmark point is that seeds germinate faster and more vigorously in dirty, used soils.
