my comment about collecting seeds from wild is:

Do not take the whole stem full of pods, I think it is ok to take 1-2 pods from the plant. We must make sure that there are still many pods left over.

Yes right!Even if someone need some seeds for his/her own collection he/she should leaves some seeds for the survival of the nepenthes.A draught may kill most of the npenthes but some smaller plants will survive but if no seeds are left the maybe be no nepenthes will survive the wild at all. Hope this help someone realise they're doing the wrong thing

Agreed .
But in some Cases as in Trans these plants are being destroyed by people trying to make a quick dollar .
Tran an i had this Conversation a few days ago on Yahoo Messenger .
He states that these Plants are being uprooted an sold at markets . So This is some what of a catch 22 Yes it is Illeagle but at the same time they are disappearing .
Now i highly oppose the thought of these plants an or any part of such be taken from the wild BUT in this case maybe a few seed pods should be picked an maybe scattered back into the wild.

Just my 2 cents

That true.
Last few years people don't know about nepenthes ( Vietnam ) so all nepenthes is not taking. No protected, nepenthes get destroy. Then now many people started to grow it, so it taken as "extreme - develope". Taking a whole plants then sale with cheap price.

Hi all,
I suggest to should be record date, location, site and GPS track if possible. cause you should where source of seeds. It's might be helpful in the future for propagation. And collect as least as possible to preserve for nature dispersion.

Regards, eboat

The exact location would be helpful for researches and forestry department. They can use this information to ensure long term species survival. However, the exact location must not be disclosed to the public. It tends to promote collection from the wild.
