old pitchers- smell will be very fishy and pungent ( esp big traps -bical,raff, northiana, lowii, rajah)

One interesting fact is the unopened pitcher fluid is probably the only source of sterile H20 when you're in the field.

besides the pitcher's fluid other part of the plant also serve special purpose. Locals use the roots of N.mirabilis - crush to obtain the juice to cure ailment.

Local tribes in Borneo use the long vines of ampullaria for fastening wooden farm houses, wooden and bamboo ladders, etc.

the outer skins are peel off and kept for their usage.

Makes me want to vomit. I feel like vomiting whenever I think of eating disgusting things(pitcher full of ants).

Whoa, Marvin, Alfred Wallace was not just "some scientist," but the co-discoverer of evolution (along with Darwin). He spent many years in the jungles of the Malay Archipelago (and in the Amazon before that), and a letter he sent to Darwin included an article that he asked Darwin to review, which contained the first known written description of evolution (the idea of which came to him during delirium caused by malaria), prompting Darwin to write his famous book, On the Origin of Species. Darwin is remembered, but unfortunately Wallace is largely forgotten, even though he lived a much more exciting life.
