Default my little hideout

To cut a long story short, I was growing orchids and airplants before getting poisoned by neps. Although the airplants were growing well at my home (high rise HDB flat in Singapore) the neps were not really doing that well and I knew the airplants would do better out in the open also. After a few months of searching, I finally found a suitable place to house them

Here's the pics!

This was my previous nep setup, march 2011

and this was taken when I first moved ALL my neps outdoors, May 2011

afterwhich I built a rack to hang my tillandsias and other plants

july 2011, filling up nicely

added some episcias as groundcover, trying to hide the ugly tray, Sept 2011

I then constructed a small waterproof structure to put my small collection of cacti and succulents

here it is now, Oct 2011. Two trays almost full, wallet already empty

Waaa.... Great transformation. Just curious, the tray of water, how do you prevent mosquitoes from breeding? Do you make holes in the tray?

actually, the tray is like a mini pond, there are tadpoles, guppies, dragonfly and damselfly nymphs and other little critters inside, so no mozzies

Very nice and good. As what everyone has mentioned just now, is the area around you your house compound? You stay in a high rise HDB flat, don't you? Is this area the ground floor of the flat? I just puzzled over how you maintain your plants' safety from being stolen......if it were me I would be worried terribly

On the other hand, all the nepenthes are growing well and yes, cramped space is happening for growers like us who just can't get enough of nepenthes .....you could consider selling some plants to "fill" up your wallet too

Yes, I live in HDB, this is not the ground floor of my flat! The place is rather ulu, thankfully and of course it's secure and there are dogs.

I do sell some of my neps sometimes to try reclaim my cost, but only within sg!
