Nice show Wong! What part of the country were you in? Looks like a super-sized meal coming up in that last shot!
I always like the gracefulness of gracilis and am beginning to appreciate the dark pitchered basal rosettes that form as they get more mature. I'm trying to produce some large baskets of N. gracilis with lots of plants per each low pot...want to see if we can get an amp-like carpet of gracilis basals

Although it is quite common, it is so cute. Still have not got one. Must bring a list of neps to YG and ask them which plants they have.

I think the red leaves variant in the picture 7, 8 & especially 9 is so unreal and really nice. It could be due to sun burn also.

Anyway, thanks for viewing, everyone, and please do come back for part II & part III.

Haa, haaa... One of my favourite Nep species. Thanks Wong.

Shawn, I've also been trying to get my gracilis to grow basels like amp but so far not very sucessful. From what I see in the wild, the plants do not need to be mature to have basels. I think waht thy need is direct sunlight for the whole day but the media is very wet and air very humid. The scorching sunlight kinda stunt them in the wild like a Bongsai tree and make their leaves very tiny. Those that are exposed in this conditions in the wild seem to have basel eventhough the plants are only 1-2 inches high. It's like the whole plant is is just pitchers.

I've witness this in a gracilis site next to the sea and no where else. Alot of the plants grow that way, with basel picthers and the plants are stunted. They were growing on sandy/rocky hill with no other plants covering them. At noon the media where they grow is quite hot. The basel plants appear most during the rainy season when the air is humid (also helped by the eveporation of water from the seaside) and the media is very wet.

NepNut, Nice pic. You're most welcome to post pics. I saw one big basal too, with many small pitchers. But comparing to yours, the whole basal that I saw is still consider small.
