« Reply #3 on May 16, 2007, 2:49pm » Hi, i don't use any moss as my nepenthes media. i use the top layer of the soil taken from the forest as the media. the plants survive. i water the plants every day.

« Reply #8 on May 16, 2007, 5:07pm » hi artificialive, based on my observation i think the nepenthes from the first picture is a form of hybrid. it has no neck and i can't find the second plant in the area. the 5th and 9th pictures are both hybrids, most probably hybrids of n. rafflesiana and n. mirabilis.

« Reply #10 on May 17, 2007, 5:41pm » hi david. based on the shapes of the pitchers and species available (n.mirabilis, n.rafflesiana, n.gracilis and n.ampullaria) in the area, i think all except the 12th plant are hybrid between n.rafflesiana and n.mirabilis). the 12th plant is [(n.rafflesiana x n.mirabilis) x n.gracilis]. « Last Edit: May 17, 2007, 7:50pm by ding »Link to Post - Back to Top 219.95.186.238 artificialive

« Reply #13 on May 18, 2007, 9:29am » Hi Ding,
How did u get your (n.rafflesiana x n.mirabilis) x n.gracilis so red? does it need strong sunlight to enhance the color (like maroon/ black gracilis behavior) or a lot of shade (like the globosa/ viking behavior)? Since one of the parent is gracilis, i assume that it needs a lot of sunlight?

« Reply #14 on May 18, 2007, 6:27pm » hi artificialive, as long as you concern the plant receives about 6 hours of direct sunlight. i'm not sure of the effect of the sunlight on this plant. the main reason of the pitcher's colour might be the nature of this hybrid. i hope i'd already answered your question.
