Bario was a remote village. Getting to Batu Lawi was a 1.5 to 2 days journey on foot. There is no road but jungle trails. Guide and porters are necessary to carry food and drinking water. |

Hi CJ,
As far as I know, MT's Bareo is not the striped peristome (a while back MT posted pic of the striped peristome bareo to represent what they're selling). Most veitchii bario can be consider as intermediate so can be successfully (to a centain extent) grown in L/L tropical weather. If compared to other H/L plants like rajah, it's easier... ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info guys. MT Bareo is quite nice as well. I guess maybe that will be my next target.
Recently saw Veitchii seeds in BestCarnivourPlants. Checked with them and confirmed that it is Bareo. However, don't know how is the quality of these seeds. It is in euro though, so quite expensive. What do you guys think? I know, even if it is viable, it will be a neck stretching exercise, guarantee to increase the neck length with the loooong wait. BTW. Any member have the Bareo type in cultivation? or better yet Batu Lawi (which I think is even harder to find). That way, we don't have to trek 2 days and spend $$$ to enjoy its beauty. Regards cj |

Got a question: How exactly does veitchii 'Hose Mountain' differ from regular veitchii? Are the pitchers and leaves supposed to be pinkish in colour? All my veitchii are only seedlings..

BE has one as N. veitchii "Golden Peristome" which they categorized it as H/L variety. EP also have greenhouse bread H/L form that they labled as veitchii "h" and "k". The "k" form is supposely the striped peristome form.
I have the BE and EP's "k" form and it's growing steadily but still very young... ![]()
