Default N. rafflesiana Cultivation Guide

Name: Nepenthes raffflesiana

Distribution & Habitat
Elevation : Lowland to Intermediate

Country of Origin : Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak & Peninsular Malaysia), Indonesia (Sumatra & Kalimantan) & Singapore

Natural Habitat : Grow terrestrially in open, sandy and wet areas. In Peninsular Malaysia, some were found growing in sand clay laterite soil.

Cultivation Guide
Cultivation ease: Easy

Lighting: 50% to full sunlight

Potting Media: Cocopeat, Cocochips, Burnt clay, Sand & Perlite.

Temperature: Low Land Tropical (possibly intermediate condition)

Humidity: 50% to 90%

Watering: Once or twice a day (depending on media)

Propagation: Stem Cutting & Seeds.

Remarks:
One of the "majestic" L/L nepenthes that is vigorous and produce enormous pitchers (giant form). N. rafflesiana is very variable especially those originated from seed. There are also many interesting form/variant for the shape and colour of the pitcher for this species. A good beginner (and for enthusiasts alike) nepenthes species to start with and once you saw the pitchers, there's no return...

Many interesting natural and man made hybrids involving N. rafflesiana can be found in cultivation and easily available on the market.

Though I am moving away from 100% LFS, my rafflesianas do beautifully in it. I would add that to the media.

Thanks for your input bearcat.

Usually the info regarding types of media were given as a general reference rather than specific requirement so ppl will get the general idea on what they can source to be use as media(s) at their own locality.

You can get it from Fauzi or a nursery at Tropicana.
